Peer Pressure; Alcohol.

“Do what you feel in your heart to be right- for you'll be criticized anyways.” - Eleanor Roosevelt.

I like to think that I respect myself enough to stand by my decisions, and if I go to a party deciding not to drink or if I don't want to drink at all I will follow through. But sometimes it can be difficult. It can be difficult to stay true to yourself when you have people questioning your every decision, or in this case, 'encouraging' you to have a drink.

I personally don't see why drinking or not drinking alcohol is a big deal. To drink or not to drink is a personal decision and should be one that you make on your own. I mean when you think about it alcohol causes a lot of the worlds problems and I personally don't want to make it a problem of my own. I have no idea what type of drunk I will be and sincerely hope I never find out.

As Eleanor Roosevelt said, you will be criticised no matter what you do. For example, you don't drink; you're lame. You drink too much and people still judge you. So I say drink or don't drink just do whatever you want and that applies to most things in life. BUT, whatever you do, stay true to yourself for as long as you know that what you do is right then that is all you need.

The Unknown.

“The only thing that scares me more than space aliens is the idea that there aren't any space aliens. We can't be the best that creation has to offer. I pray we're not all there is. If so, we're in big trouble.” - Ellen DeGeneres

The unknown can be either scary or amazing depending on how you look at it. I mean thinking about what else is out there scares the bejeezus
out of me but I still think it is wickedly cool. I just watched the movie 'I am number four' (Alex Pettyfer officially takes the award for hottest guy on earth) and it made me think about what's really out there.

The possibilities are endless! There could be life in other galaxies and planets with other people just like us (or they could be aliens and not like us at all). My point being that in comparison to what is out there, we are so small. I am one girl in Australia, which is only one country in our world and only one planet out of nine (yes I still count pluto) which is only one galaxy out of many in the universe...

We are so small.

Seeing as I have realised how small I am in comparison to the world, my goals have changed. If I can make a positive influence on at least one persons life then that is enough. So use the fear of how small you are to influence one other persons life and therefore we will create a chain effect of positive influences. That way we will all be apart of something bigger, something beautiful.

I always seem to get really deep in my blog posts but hey this is my 'thinking chamber'. Anyway I'll leave you all with your thoughts about aliens and the universe.

Re-inspire yourself.

"The world is your stage, make it a performance of a lifetime" - I have no idea who said that but it was probably someone special and important

Sometimes we can all lose sight of what we want, or what we once thought we wanted. I think that through time we will discover what our true desires are and what was just another part of finding ourselves.

Today I have been re-inspired. I want to create magic that makes people feel something, whether that be laughter, inspiration, sadness (in the best way) or happiness. In fact, just being able to share something that I have put my heart and soul into is all I want. It could be in the form of blog posts, youtube videos, opening a cafe, movies, television, novels... the list is endless. These are all the things I hope to accomplish in life, ambitious... I know. I am a big believer in doing anything you set your mind to so I am going to start, one task at a time, and prove everyone who said I couldn't do it wrong.

So re-inspire yourself! For me it was watching a lot of Ashton Kutcher movies as well as crying my eyes out to numerous Nicholas Sparks movies (I really want to read the books too). Find something that re-inspires you, it could be books, movies, television or even people.

Today I have been re-inspired, and I can't wait for whats to come.

Burn.

Burn.

As a verb, burn is defined as; be or caused to be destroyed by fire.
As a noun, burn is defined as; an injury caused by exposure to heat or flame. That's the type of burn I have as in a second degree burn that comes from being a barista (well an unofficial one). Although those types of burns feel like you are walking into the gates of hell, there are other, metaphorical, burns that can hurt just as bad.

I am talking about that destructive relationship that is in your life that can cause ultimate damage. For example someone who always makes you feel bad about yourself. I know many people have been in this boat, myself included. If you have ever been through this you will know that this type of friendship can feel just like a burn. If you don't know what that feels like, it feels like the devil is cooking you slowing alive... or just a stinging, fiery pain.

Ironically, while I am creating this blog post 'Shake it off' by Taylor Swift started playing on the radio. Whether you love or loathe Taylor we can all learn something from this song and that is to look at the situation at hand and simply 'shake it off'. Sometimes this is a good thing but sometimes you should do more than shake it off. Sometimes you need to separate yourself from the flames to save yourself, sort of like the way you run your hand under cold water for 20 minutes after a burn; they both can be life saving.

First Blog Post Ever

Hello blogging world!

This is my first blog post so it is only fitting that I introduce myself... my name is Nicole and I am a 17 year old (soon to be 18) from Australia.

What makes my life interesting? Nothing really.

Why should you read my blog? I have no clue.

But what I do know is that I need somewhere to express myself and I guess this will be it. Follow me along on my journey through life where I discover new things, meet new people and complete my teenage years while having fun! (hopefully).

See you soon!
