'It's not where you come from, it's where you belong'
By far one of the most inspirational television shows I have ever watched is 'The Fosters' on FreeformTV. The show is described as 'a one-hour drama about a multi-ethnic family mix of foster and biological kids being raised by two moms'. This show deals with a large range of issues relevant to todays society that is not necessarily discussed in other shows. This is the reason why I (and so many others) love the show.
The forbidden love of foster siblings, Callie and Brandon, has to be one of my favourite love stories of all time. I am still holding out hope that these two will end up together (they are endgame, I'm sure). These two are a perfect pairing, the only barrier being the fact that they are 'family' and therefore forbidden to be together. I feel like now is a perfect time to remind you that they aren't biologically related so hang on to the hope that they will get a happy ending. This relationship can only be compared to that of Romeo and Juliet only without the fatal tragic ending (hopefully).

Another amazing aspect of the show is the music. This Spotify playlist has all the music from the series and has quickly become one of my favourite things to listen to. Numerous characters also get the opportunity to showcase their musical talent. In particular, David Lambert's character has a classical music background but also dabbles in a rock band for a season. The song 'Outlaws' was a result and I couldn't love it more! David has an amazing musical talent not to mention that the song is inspired by Brandon and Callie's relationship which just makes me love it more. If including this amount of amazing music isn't enough, they recently performed a spectacular musical adaption of Romeo and Juliet. I cannot fault this AT ALL. It was perfect. And most of all, Cierra Ramirez gave the performance of a lifetime.
Now onto the more serious issues... one major theme of the show is personal identity. We have the privilege of observing each character and their journey of self discovery. This includes battles with illness, drugs, sexuality, anxiety, depression, death and family among other things. Literally every life issue that you can imagine is addressed in the show. Each of these heavy storylines are treated with care and respect and are carried out flawlessly. There is no doubt that this would be pretty hard to do so I commend the producers and writers of the show for this one.
One of the most important things to mention (to me anyway hehe) is that one of the main actors is Australian - Maia Mitchell is doing us proud! I'll just dedicate one minute of silence to the rare talent that Maia has, she is one brilliant young actor and she is going to go amazing places in the future. Now is also a good time to mention the chemistry of each and every actor on this show, they seem like a real family which translates so well on screen.
With all of that said, the main aspect that I love about the show is the family values. They focus on the most important things - love and happiness. It also tells a story that isn't often told. The story of foster children, their struggles and their hardships, that hasn't been seen to this degree on television ever before.

If you need one final reason to watch the show (which you shouldn't after my ramblings of how good it is), watch it because it will change your life. It will make you see the world from a different perspective. It will make you understand what it's like to be in someone else's shoes. It will make you see the lows of life yet feel the greatest highs that life has to offer. It will make you extremely thankful for all the privileges you have been blessed with in your life. There's not many shows that you can say will change your life... this is one of the rare few.
